Suspicious death of prisoner in Jind jail; family expresses doubt

In a case of forcing someone to commit suicide in Jind, Haryana, a prisoner died under suspicious circumstances in the district jail. Police say that the prisoner died of a heart attack, but the family members expressed doubt over the death and refused to get the postmortem of the deceased’s body done in Jind.

Now the postmortem of the deceased’s body will be done today in Rohtak PGI under the supervision of a judicial magistrate. Only after this will the real cause of death be revealed. Chand’s case was pending. Chand had gone on bail and returned to jail on March 21 itself. On Sunday, Chand was brought to Jind Civil Hospital by jail personnel. Here, the doctors declared him dead. Jail officials say that Chand’s condition had deteriorated in the morning. After this, he was brought to the hospital.

It is suspected that Chand died of a heart attack. On receiving the news of Chand’s death, his family members also reached Jind Civil Hospital and expressed doubts about Chand’s death. The family members protested by refusing to conduct the postmortem. The family members of the deceased Chand said that they were not informed on time and the matter should be investigated thoroughly.
