Chandigarh: The Haryana government has set a target of opening 500 creche centers in the new year 2025. For this, a budget of Rs 32.15 crore has also been arranged. The Women and Child Development Department of the government has opened 165 creche centers in 15 districts in the first phase. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has launched a state-level creche policy for this. It will give priority to working women. Former CM Manohar Lal Khattar announced to opening of 500 new creches for the children of working women in 2021. After this, now CM Saini is implementing the announcement of the former CM.
On the instructions of the CM, the Women and Child Development Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Mobile Creche Organization to set up quality creches equipped with modern facilities.
Haryana has become the first state in India to implement the creche policy. The Department of Women and Child Development issued a notification on 21st July 2023 by implementing the Haryana State Creche Policy.
The Haryana government is giving a monthly honorarium of Rs 15000 for the creche worker and Rs 7500 for the assistant. As per the budget approved by the Haryana Finance Department, 500 creches are to be set up during 2024 to 26. The total cost of this initiative is estimated to be Rs 5735.00 lakh for the financial year 2023-24, Rs 3215.00 lakh for the year 2024-25 and Rs 3235.00 lakh for the financial year 2025-26. These creches will be opened in the city as well as rural areas.
