Forest Department workers protest in Gurugram

The Forest Minister's office was cordoned off, he said—not regularized even on SC's order. 

Gurugram: The Forest Department Workers Union surrounded Forest Minister Sanjay Singh’s office in Sohna, Gurugram, with their demands. Employees said that the protest will continue until their demands are met.

A police force was deployed outside the office to stop the employees. Sarva Karamchari Sangh and the Asha Worker Union also supported the Forest Department Workers Union in the protest.

The state head of the Forest Department Workers Union, Vijay Sharma, said that the forest workers have been working in the forest department for about 35 years. The forest department has not regularized the workers to date. Whereas the Supreme Court has issued orders regarding the regularization of workers.

The government is not regularizing these workers. The department is placing more emphasis on contracting. The must-roll system is not being implemented. Workers’ arrears should be paid in 2016. All workers should be paid their salaries by the 7th of every month. Even today, the wages of workers are pending in many districts; a seniority list of forest workers should be made. Along with this, the union is demanding compensation for the accident victims.

Union leaders said that the workers should be regularized for the post of Group D in the Forest Department. which service rules should be made so that they can get the benefit of ACP. Union leaders said that the Forest Minister had given them time until July 20. But even after that, their demands were not met.
