Chandigarh: The period of severe heat continues in Haryana. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for a heat wave in six districts: Ambala, Gurugram, Nuh, Palwal, Faridabad, and Rohtak, today.
At the same time, the remaining 16 districts are on orange alert. The heat is such that the daytime temperature is crossing 45 degrees in 12 districts of the state.
At the same time, the nighttime temperature was 9 degrees higher than normal. It was recorded as the highest at 34.6 degrees in Fatehabad and the lowest at 28.7 degrees in Karnal and Yamunanagar.
The matter of relief is that the weather will change by the night of the 18th. Pre-monsoon rain or drizzle may occur in some areas from the 19th to the 22nd. Winds can blow at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour.
Along with the scorching heat in Haryana, the humidity has also started troubling people. On Sunday, too, the common people were troubled by the heat. Dusty winds blew at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. In the last 24 hours, the average temperature of the entire state has increased by 0.5 degrees during the day and 1.3 degrees at night. The daytime temperature was 5.2 to 7.8 degrees higher than normal. It was recorded above 43 degrees in all the districts. It reached a high of 46.6 degrees in Nuh.
Due to the heat, the electricity demand has increased by 4.36 crore units in 7 days. In the last 24 hours, electricity consumption reached 27.29 crore units, which is a record so far. This is 22.53% more than last year.
Due to the continuous increase in demand for electricity, there are power cuts of 2 to 4 hours in cities and 4 to 8 hours in villages.
So far in June, there has been 88% less rainfall than normal. From June 1 to June 16, there has been 2.3 mm of rainfall, whereas 20 mm of rainfall is considered normal in this period.
