Hisar Central Jail: Prisoners make idols of Lakshmi and Ganesh

Hisar: The prisoners lodged in Hisar Central Jail will be trained for decoration as well as sewing and embroidery. For this, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Delhi’s Gifting Smile Foundation. The prisoners will also be paid for this work. The items made by them will also be sold in fairs like Surajkund.

The prisoners and detainees lodged in Central Jail-2 located on Rajgarh Road in Hisar, who are in jail for breaking the locks of safes and houses, will now be seen making small idols of God, decorative items, various types of art works from wood and doing sewing and embroidery.

The income generated from this will be used to guide the prisoners and detainees on the right path. Central Jail-2 has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Delhi’s Gifting Smile Foundation to bring prisoners on the right path by removing them from criminal activities.

Under this, the foundation will provide wooden artifacts and decorative items to male and female prisoners in the jail. Along with this, training will also be given to make various types of decorative items.

Female prisoners will also get wages for this work. There is a plan to give Rs 1,000 to each prisoner doing the work and this MoU has been signed for three months.

This will encourage other prisoners in the jail to do similar work. After learning the work, these people can also make these works a means of their livelihood after coming out of jail.
