In the wake of the recent MBBS exam scam in Haryana, Pandit BD Sharma University of Health Sciences Rohtak (UHSR) authorities have tightened the exam protocol. The university has transferred the supplementary practical exam centres of five private medical colleges located in different districts.
The practical exams, which were earlier conducted in the respective private institutions, will now be held in the adjoining government medical colleges after the conclusion of the theory exams on April 26.
The move comes after students of two private medical colleges were allegedly involved in the MBBS exam scam in which answer sheets were taken out from the university’s privacy branch with the help of staff, re-attempted, and re-submitted to obtain passing marks, sources said.
A formal letter in this regard has recently been issued by the UHSR examination controller’s office to the directors of PGIMS-Rohtak, SHKM Government Medical College, Nalhar (Mewat) and Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, Karnal.
Heads of departments of government institutions have been asked to coordinate with external examiners and schedule practical exams as per merit or sequence. They also need to finalise the examiner panel and inform private colleges accordingly, sources said.
The letter said all practical exams should be completed by May 10 and the results should be uploaded on the university portal immediately. Confirming this, UHSR Vice Chancellor Dr HK Agarwal said, “We are committed to maintain transparency and credibility of the exam by removing every possible loophole.”
