A tractor driver was shot dead late Wednesday night at ILD Mall near Subhash Chowk in Gurugram. He was engaged in removing construction debris in the mall. The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Wasim, a resident of Bahrampur. The incident took place at around 1:30 am when Wasim reached the mall to work under a contract to remove debris.
According to the information, Wasim was taking a tractor to remove debris outside the mall. During this time, he had a dispute with a paan shop owner near the mall regarding passing through the path of the tractor. The minor altercation soon turned into a serious quarrel. In anger, the paan shop owner called one of his friends to the spot. After this, both of them together shot Wasim, due to which he died on the spot.
It is being said that the paan shop owner was also drunk, and he abused Wasim for a long time. After shooting Wasim, the shop owner and his friend fled.
Eyewitnesses said that people around got scared after hearing the bullet sound. The incident happened at midnight, so no one went there due to fear. After some time, other people working at the construction site took him to a private hospital, where he died during treatment. After this, the police were informed about the matter.
Police are investigating the case
As soon as the information of the incident was received, Sadar police station reached the spot and took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem. Police said that in the preliminary investigation, the paan shop owner and his friend are suspects. Efforts are being made to identify them with the help of CCTV footage. However, the police say that nothing is clearly known about the accused right now. Something can be said only after identification. The police have started raids to arrest the accused.
