The victim has lodged a complaint with the City Police Station and registered a case. The police have started an investigation.
Sanjay, a resident of Mayur Vihar, told the City Police Station that he buys and sells two-wheelers near Chhotu Ram Chowk. He received a call from an 11-digit mobile on November 24, 2024, in which extortion of Rs 25 lakh was demanded and he was threatened to be shot with an AK-47 if he did not pay.
At first he ignored it thinking it to be a joke. Now on April 15, he received four consecutive threatening calls from the same number. In the call, not only abuses were made but threats were also given to close the shop and kill. Sanjay recorded these calls and informed on dial 112.
Sanjay said that on April 27, three youths came outside his shop on a bike and threatened to kill him. The CCTV footage of this incident has also been handed over to the police. Sanjay said that he is getting threats repeatedly. The police have registered a case and have started efforts to identify and arrest the youths.
