Chandigarh: In the Union territory Chandigarh cab and auto drivers have once again gone on strike. They have gathered at Sector 17 Circus Ground and are protesting against the Chandigarh administration. They allege that after protesting several times earlier, they were given assurances by the Chandigarh administration.
But none of their demands have been met yet. Many illegal taxis are running in Chandigarh and no action is taken against them. When we ask the administration for our demands, the administration starts the challan of the vehicles.
Union head Amandeep Singh said that various type of bike taxis are running in Chandigarh. Where they do not have any kind of permission.
The administration does not take any action against them. This bike does not even have a commercial number. Still, it is picking up passengers.
Due to the low rates of bike taxis, the passengers are mostly using bike taxis. Due to this, their business has stopped completely. Auto drivers are also not able to get passengers. Due to this, it has become very difficult to run the family.
The driver has also raised the issue of assault on taxi drivers in Himachal.
He says that whenever a taxi goes to Himachal from here, they are not allowed to pick up passengers from there. If a driver tries to pick up a passenger from his vehicle, the taxi drivers of Himachal gather together and beat him up. Whereas the taxi drivers of Himachal are openly picking up passengers from the Tricity. But no action of any kind is taken against them.
