Bawanikheda: Villagers are angry over the movement of vehicles without number plates and overloaded vehicles in the construction work of National Highway 148B in many villages under the Bawani Khera section of Bhiwani, Haryana. Villagers demonstrated against this on Sunday. They alleged that no action was being taken despite informing the administration. On the other hand, police station in-charge Jitendra Kumar said that checking will be done from time to time.
According to the information, last month there was a heated argument between the villagers and the contractor regarding the work going on for a long time on the road connecting the village of Chauratapur to Milkpur.
The matter had escalated so much that the villagers complained about it to the RTO of Bhiwani, and the RTO also assured them to take action.
Among the villagers, Pradeep Chahar, Mahendra Lamba, Sundar Lamba, Azad Singh, Pradhan Roshan Seshma, etc. said that for a long time, overloaded dumpers have been doing illegal mining and dumping soil.
More than a dozen dumpers are engaged in the work, and many of them do not have number plates. They are dumping soil, etc., from Milkpur to Chauratapur, Dhani Kesla, Dhani Kushal, and Dhani Kumharan on NH 148B by overloading from the Poothi Drain. Due to overloading, the roads here have completely broken down.
The villagers said that earlier, they had also asked the drivers and the contractor to show permission. They had threatened to crush the villagers under the tires. The villagers said that vehicles are being driven without number plates. These vehicles run at full speed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and rest during the day.
The villagers said that seeing the irregularities in their work, they had complained about them to the RTO of Bhiwani and demanded action. But no action was taken by the administration. Due to this, their spirits are high. The villagers expressed their anger over this, raised slogans, and warned of staging a dharna at the district level if the problem is not resolved.
Bawani Khera police station manager Jitendra Kumar said that his team checks vehicles by setting up blockades. Action is taken if any irregularity is found.
