Karnal: A young man who had gone to take a bath on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra at Yamuna Ghat in Nabiabad village of Indri constituency of Karnal in Haryana died due to drowning. This incident happened when three youths reached to take a bath in Yamuna.
The youth works as a labourer in the area of Indore and he was originally from Siddharthnagar in UP. As soon as information about the accident was received, the local administration and police reached the spot, and the body was found 30 minutes after drowning.
Indri police station SHO Shri Bhagwan said that the deceased has been identified as Akhilesh, the son of Ramkumar, a resident of Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh. He has been living in Indri city with his three friends for the last about 4 months and has worked as a labourer here.
Shri Bhagwan said that when the friends of the deceased were questioned, they said that this afternoon we all went to take a bath in Yamuna with Ganga Dussehra. But during this, when Akhilesh went a little ahead of the ghat, he drowned in the water in front of their eyes.
Seeing Akhilesh drowning in the Yamuna, the people around him started screaming. The local people present there immediately searched for Akhilesh in the water, and after about 30 minutes, his body was recovered from the Yamuna.
This incident has cast a sad shadow amidst the happiness of the festival of Ganga Dussehra. The family and friends of the deceased are in grief, and the local community has expressed their condolences to them. This incident reminds us how important it is to maintain a balance between faith and security. Despite this tragic accident, the administration and the local people are making efforts together to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future and that strong security arrangements are made during religious events.
Shri Bhagwan said that the police have taken the body into custody and kept it in the postmortem house of Kalpana Chawla Medical College, Karnal. The family members have been informed about the accident. The body will be handed over to the family after the arrival of the family members.
