Punjabi singer Hassan Manak arrested, accused of cheating an NRI woman

Phagwara: Police have arrested Punjabi singer Hassan Manak from Kapurthala district. Phagwara City Police Station has confirmed the incident and said that the singer is accused of cheating an NRI woman.

Case and arrest

A case was registered on May 30, 2025 under various sections of cheating. It is alleged that Hassan Manak remarried the woman without getting a divorce and also sold her jewellery. Since an NRI woman was involved in the case, the police arrested the singer. Efforts are on to arrest his father, mother, brother and other accused named in the case.

DSP Bharat Bhushan said that the singer was produced in the court today, where he was sent to jail on 14-day judicial custody.

Wedding expenses and charges

The arrest was made on the basis of the complaint of the victim Parvinder Kaur. She alleged that the accused married her after winning her trust by posing as a singer and a celebrity. The accused was already married and had a domestic violence case pending against him.

The victim’s mother said that the accused bore all the expenses of the wedding without informing the family. Around Rs 2.2-2.5 million was spent on gold and silver ornaments, clothes, expensive gifts and the wedding ceremony. All the rituals were performed at a palace in Banka, but the police intervened and declared the marriage illegal.

Fraud case registered

Based on the complaint of Parvinder Kaur, the police registered a case against the accused under various sections of cheating on May 30, 2025. Later, the court issued an order to add rape charges against the accused.
