Heart Treatment Suspended at 4 Government Hospitals in Haryana: Cashless Treatment No Longer Available

Heart treatment for BPL (Below Poverty Line) and Ayushman beneficiaries has now been suspended at four government hospitals across Haryana. The company responsible for the services has justified this suspension by arguing that the Health Department is failing to make payments in accordance with the terms of the tender agreement. This decision was taken due to outstanding dues amounting to approximately ₹30 crore.

Meditrina Hospitals a company based in Kerala—holds a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Health Department. Under this agreement, the company established specialized heart centers within government hospitals located in Panchkula, Ambala, Gurugram, and Faridabad, Haryana.

Collectively, these four heart centers receive over 500 patients seeking treatment on a daily basis.

As per the terms of the MoU, payments for the company’s invoices are required to be settled within 45 days. However, citing a prolonged delay in receiving payments, the company has ceased providing treatment to BPL and Ayushman patients. Consequently, these patients are now compelled to seek medical care at private hospitals.

In Panchkula alone, outstanding dues related to patient care amount to approximately ₹37 lakh. Nevertheless, it has been alleged that the company has failed to provide clear records for bills totaling ₹19 lakh.

Process Underway: Dr. Chauhan

Dr. R.S. Chauhan, the Principal Medical Officer (PMO) at the Government Hospital in Panchkula, stated that the process regarding the pending payments is currently underway. He noted that the delay in Panchkula stemmed from the unavailability of certain bills. Dr. Chauhan clarified that the outstanding amount specific to Panchkula is not substantial; however, he added that he did not possess information regarding the situation in the other locations.
