Heatwave Likely in Punjab-Chandigarh, Temp Rises 1.6°C

Due to the western disturbance reaching the hill states, there was rain last night in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, along with Pathankot and some surrounding areas. However, today, April 13, the weather in the state will remain clear, that is dry. Winds will blow during the day. Compared to the day before yesterday, the temperature has increased by 1.6 degrees, although it is still three degrees below normal.

Patiala recorded the highest temperature at 33.4 degrees Celsius, while in Chandigarh the temperature was 2.1 degrees below normal, with a maximum temperature of 32 degrees Celsius. The Chandigarh Meteorological Department has not issued any alerts for any district today.

Now the temperature will start to rise.

According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Department, the temperature in Punjab will now increase and may reach 32 to 35 degrees Celsius. Although heat will increase across the entire state, there is likely to be a more significant rise in temperature especially in Amritsar, Fazilka, Muktsar, Faridkot, Mansa, and Moga.

Another disturbance will occur on April 15

A subtropical westerly jet stream with a speed of 120 knots remains active over northwest India at an altitude of about 12.6 kilometers above mean sea level. Along with this, a new and weak western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from April 15, causing slight changes in weather there, such as clouding or light rain. However, more western disturbances will follow. But they will not impact the weather.

Maximum temperature will rise by 6 to 8 degrees in seven days

According to Surendra Pal, Director of the Meteorological Department, the weather is likely to remain dry in the state. Strong surface winds at a speed of 25 to 35 kilometers per hour are expected for the next two days. Additionally, over the next seven days, the maximum temperature is expected to increase by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius.
