    Heavy rain alert in Himachal: Orange warning issued in 10 Districts, 78 dead so far this monsoon

    Shimla, July 7: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in Himachal. Orange alert has been issued in 10 districts of the state today (Monday). This warning has been issued in all other districts except Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti. After heavy rains, incidents of waterlogging, landslides, floods, falling of trees may occur in many districts.

    However, despite the weather department’s warning, Shimla has been sunny since morning. The weather is clear in other parts of the state today. Tomorrow (8 July) too, there is an orange alert for heavy rain in 4 districts Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Chamba and Kangra. A yellow alert has been issued in Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur.

    Western disturbance will weaken from day after tomorrow

    The Western Disturbance will weaken a bit on July 9. A yellow alert has been issued in all districts on this day. After the warning issued by the Meteorological Department, DCs in all districts are appealing to people to stay in safe places and take precautions.

    78 people died in monsoon season

    So far 78 people have died during the monsoon season (between 20 June and 6 July) in Himachal. Of these, 1 died in landslide, 8 in flash flood, 14 in cloudburst, 8 in drowning, 1 in fire, 2 in snake bite, 4 in electric shock, 8 in falling from height and 4 in other reasons. During this period 28 people have lost their lives in road accidents. 37 people are missing in the state.

    So far 14 dead, 28 missing in Mandi

    So far, bodies of 14 people have been recovered in the tragedy of the night of June 30, 28 people are still reported missing. Relief and rescue operations are going on in search of them. The Indian Army has also joined this work. So far, 225 houses and 243 cow sheds have been destroyed in Mandi.

    Apart from relief and rescue operations, the Indian Army has also started delivering rations to every household as it has become challenging to deliver rations to the affected people due to roads and paths being washed away.
