Helpline Launched for LPG Cylinders in Jalandhar; Teams Formed to Curb Black Marketing

The administration in Jalandhar has formulated regulations to curb the black marketing of LPG cylinders. In view of the prevailing situation, a committee of officials has been constituted specifically to prevent the illicit trading of gas cylinders.

This was stated by DC Dr. Himanshu Agarwal. The DC further informed that teams have also been formed to conduct inspections of gas agencies. Additionally, a WhatsApp helpline number 9646222555 has now been launched, through which citizens can register complaints regarding the black marketing of gas cylinders.

Staff Deployed to Curb Black Marketing

The DC stated that staff are being deployed to prevent black marketing; these personnel will take action based on information received via WhatsApp. Furthermore, complaints will be forwarded to a committee constituted under the leadership of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) for appropriate action.

Appealing to the public, he urged that if anyone receives any information regarding the black marketing of gas cylinders anywhere, they should immediately share it via the aforementioned helpline number so that the district administration can promptly initiate necessary legal action.

Administration Keeps a Watch on Gas Agencies and Warehouses

Dr. Agarwal stated that, given the current circumstances, the district administration is keeping a close watch on the entire situation. He added that a special committee, chaired by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), has been formed to prevent the black marketing and illegal hoarding of gas cylinders.

Moreover, to ensure the consistent supply of domestic gas cylinders, teams from the district administration are conducting continuous inspections to monitor gas agencies and their warehouses.

Appeal to the Public to Stay Alert Against Rumors

Appealing to the public to remain vigilant against rumors, the Deputy Commissioner warned that strict action, in accordance with the law, would be taken against those found spreading rumors regarding shortages. He also urged the public to refrain from making panic-driven, excessive purchases of gas cylinders. Warning of strict action against black marketing and illegal hoarding, Dr. Agarwal stated that if any such case comes to light, action will be initiated under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
