A shocking revelation has emerged regarding the death of businessman Ketan Agarwal at Pune’s Lohagad Fort. Initially considered a tragic accident, the police investigation uncovered a gruesome murder. The police have arrested the deceased’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her lover, Chetan Chaudhary, in connection with the case.
Clue from CCTV footage
During the investigation, the police obtained CCTV footage from near the fort’s ticket counter. It showed 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal and 20-year-old Siya walking together. A young man wearing shorts and a hoodie was walking a short distance behind them. Police suspicions were aroused when they noted the day’s temperature was 33 degrees Celsius; it was unusual for someone to wear a hoodie and conceal their face in such heat. The footage showed that whenever Siya glanced back, the man in the hoodie would immediately crouch down. This man was later identified as Siya’s lover, Chetan Chaudhary.
Plot to murder before the wedding
Ketan and Siya got engaged in February of this year. Their grand wedding was scheduled to take place at a palace in Udaipur in November. Ketan managed his family’s real estate business. The investigation revealed that Siya was unhappy with the impending marriage; she had even asked Ketan’s family to postpone the wedding by a year. Subsequently, Siya and Chetan conspired to eliminate Ketan.
Previous attempts to kill
Police stated that Siya had repeatedly pressured Ketan to visit Lohagad Fort. She had taken him there on May 31. She insisted on going again on June 4, but Ketan’s mother did not allow them to leave. Ketan’s passport had also mysteriously gone missing, causing the cancellation of a planned trip to Bali. On June 14, Siya attempted to push Ketan off the fort, but he managed to grab hold of a bush. She then covered up the incident by pretending there was a snake.
Call Records Revealed the Truth
When the police examined Siya’s phone, they discovered she had been speaking with Chetan for hours; numerous calls had been exchanged between them. Police matched photos from Chetan’s social media profile with CCTV footage, turning their suspicion into certainty. Investigators also revealed that over 2,004 calls were exchanged between Siya and Chetan between January and June this year. They spent a cumulative 238 hours talking to each other over the period of six months.
Revelation Upon Apprehension
When the Lonavala Rural Police and the Crime Branch took Chetan into custody and interrogated him, he confessed everything. Chetan revealed that Siya did not want to break off the engagement and run away, fearing it would bring disrepute to her family. Consequently, they hatched a plot to kill Ketan. Seizing an opportunity on June 18, they pushed Ketan into a gorge. The police have now registered a case of murder and conspiracy against both accused.
