Amritsar Rural Police have achieved a breakthrough against cross-border drone smuggling. The police recovered approximately 10 kilograms of suspected heroin—dropped via drone—from fields in Sufian village, located near the India-Pakistan international border. Additionally, a motorcycle was seized from the scene.
This consignment had been sent across the border from Pakistan via drone. Smugglers had arrived at the fields to retrieve it but fled the scene upon sensing police activity. During a search operation, the police recovered 10 sealed packets from the fields. The total weight of the recovered contraband is estimated to be around 10 kilograms.
Motorcycle seized; investigation underway
The police have taken the recovered motorcycle into custody and initiated an investigation. Officials believe that the motorcycle’s registration details and other technical evidence could help in tracking down the accused. Currently, the police are working to identify the motorcycle’s owner and associated individuals.
Examination of CCTV footage from the area
A case has been registered under relevant sections regarding the incident. The police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area, technical evidence, and other leads to ensure the absconding smugglers are arrested soon.
