6.038 Kg heroin seized in Ferozepur; one arrested after week-long operation

Ferozepur: In a significant crackdown on trans-border drug trafficking, the Punjab Police has arrested one accused following a week-long intelligence-led and technical operation in Ferozepur district. The operation led to the recovery of 6.038 kilograms of heroin, officials said.

According to police sources, the accused was apprehended by the Ferozepur Police after sustained surveillance and technical tracking. The seizure is being viewed as a major breakthrough in efforts to curb the smuggling of narcotics across the international border.

An FIR has been registered at Arifke Police Station under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities stated that further investigation is underway to establish both forward and backward linkages in the drug supply chain and to identify other individuals involved in the network.

Senior officials reiterated that the Punjab Police remains committed to dismantling drug syndicates operating in the state and ensuring peace and security across Punjab. Efforts are ongoing to trace the origin and intended distribution channels of the seized contraband.
