‘Him Bus Card’ Mandatory in Himachal, Electricity Cheaper, Liquor Expensive

The ‘Him Bus Card’ has been made mandatory for concessional travel on government buses in Himachal Pradesh from today. However, school students have been given an additional extension until May 31st to obtain it.

Students from grades 1 to 12 can obtain the card during this period. After this, free travel without the card will end. Now, all passengers, including women, without a ‘Him Bus Card’ will have to pay the full fare.

Rules for Women and Other Categories
Women in the state will continue to receive a 50% discount on bus fares, but this benefit will now be available only to ‘Him Bus Card’ holders.

Similarly, men previously received 30% and 20% discounts on Green and Yellow cards, which have now been replaced by ‘Him Bus Cards’. The Transport Department has issued instructions to all conductors in this regard.

Card Making Status and Purpose
To date, approximately 1.70 lakh ‘Him Bus Cards’ have been made, while approximately 3,000 cards are pending, which will be issued soon.

The government says the aim of this initiative is to make the transportation system digital and transparent.

Electricity Cheaper, Liquor Prices Increased
With the start of the new financial year, electricity rates in the state have been reduced by 1 paisa per unit, providing relief to domestic and commercial consumers.

Also, liquor prices have been increased. According to information, due to the new auction rates, liquor prices may increase by 70 to 180 rupees per bottle.
