Himachal: Railways Big decision, all trains to stop at Tara Devi station

Thousands of people who commute daily between Taradevi and Shimla are set to receive significant relief from the new year. Those who regularly get stuck in long traffic jams every morning and evening will now be able to travel directly from Taradevi to Shimla by train. The railways have introduced a mandatory stop at Taradevi for all trains on the World Heritage Kalka-Shimla railway line. All trains operating on this track will now be required to stop at Taradevi station.

Local residents had been demanding this for a long time, and they will finally get this facility in the new year. This will not only benefit the local population but also boost tourism. Until now, only two of the six trains operating on the Kalka-Shimla railway line stopped at Taradevi station.

These were train numbers 52453 and 52457, which stopped on their way from Kalka to Shimla, and train numbers 52454 and 52458, which stopped on their way from Shimla to Kalka.

The remaining trains – the Kalka-Shimla Express, Shivalik Express, and Himalayan Queen – did not stop at Taradevi station. This caused considerable inconvenience to passengers from Taradevi, Jatog, Shoghi, and the surrounding areas. Traffic congestion has also been a major problem for commuters.

Therefore, people had been demanding that the railways introduce this stop. This station is not only important from a religious and tourism perspective but also serves as a major rail link for the outer areas of Shimla city. The famous Taradevi temple is located here, attracting thousands of devotees every year.
