Key Decisions Expected Today as Himachal Cabinet Concludes Four-Day Meeting; Focus on Monsoon Session

Shimla, July 31: Today is the fourth day of the Himachal government’s cabinet meeting. After some time, a meeting will be held in the secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. Many important decisions can be taken in this today. The date of the monsoon session of the assembly can be decided in the cabinet.

The state government can call the monsoon session in the last week of August. The Assembly Secretariat has sent a proposal to the government regarding this. Now the cabinet has to take a decision. An informal discussion has already taken place in the cabinet yesterday regarding the monsoon session.

The cabinet is also to decide on the reservation roster for the municipal elections. For this, the state government had even postponed the Election Commission’s program of releasing the reservation roster. After this, a situation of conflict has arisen between the government and the Election Commission.

The Election Commission had given instructions to prepare the roster by July 22

The Election Commission had given instructions to decide the reservation roster by 22nd July at any cost. But the government postponed the commission’s program saying that a decision will be taken in the cabinet regarding the reservation roster. Now the Election Commission is waiting for the government’s decision.

If the roster is not set up then the commission can go to court

Sources reveal that if the government does not take a decision on the reservation roster soon, then the Election Commission can file a petition in the High Court, because the Election Commission wants to conduct the municipal elections along with the Panchayat elections in December.

The commission started its preparations three months ago. Now the reservation roster is awaited to be finalized. As soon as it is finalized, the Election Commission will start the work of preparing the voter list.

Recruitments in various departments may also be approved in the cabinet meeting. For the first time, the Himachal government has called a four-day cabinet meeting. Today is the fourth day of the cabinet meeting.
