Himachal CM Sukhu chairs review meeting on disaster damage; All DCs-SPs joined virtually

Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is virtually reviewing the loss of life and property caused by the natural disaster. CM Sukhu and senior officials were virtually connected with the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police (SPs) of all districts from the Secretariat.

Relief and rehabilitation work is being reviewed, and instructions are being issued regarding providing financial assistance to the disaster-affected people from the special package announced by the state government.

417 People Died This Monsoon Season

Private and government property worth more than ₹4,582 crore has been destroyed this monsoon season (June 1 to September 17). 417 people have died during this period. Of these, 80 were killed in landslides, floods, and cloudbursts. 45 people are missing across the state. According to the State Disaster Management, there is little chance of their survival.

1,502 Houses Destroyed

In the state, 1,502 houses have been completely destroyed, and 6,501 houses have been partially damaged. More than 30,000 domestic animals and livestock have been killed in this disaster. The state government is providing assistance to all disaster-affected people through a special package. Those whose homes were destroyed are being given ₹7 lakh to rebuild their homes.
