Himachal Congress to soon get a new president, party leaders summoned to New Delhi

The Congress high command has summoned six leaders, including Education Minister Rohit Thakur, former state Congress president and national spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Rathore, to New Delhi. After discussions with them, the high command will soon decide on the Congress state president. A party president and three working presidents are to be appointed, which is why all these leaders have been summoned to New Delhi.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, speaking to reporters at the state secretariat, said that the organization will have a new president within ten days. He added that there will be little waiting for this.

An important meeting of these six leaders has been called in New Delhi on Friday at 9:30 am. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge are expected to attend this meeting. The Congress president will be decided based on regional, caste, and other factors, to achieve a Mission Repeat in the upcoming Panchayat elections in Himachal Pradesh and the 2027 assembly elections. The Congress organization has been undergoing dissolution in the state for the past year.

Kuldeep Singh Rathore was attending an event in his constituency, Theog, when he was summoned to New Delhi. He also left. Both leaders are strong contenders for the post of president. According to sources, the high command has already consulted Chief Minister Sukhu regarding these two leaders, who belong to the Rajput community. The Congress high command has also sought feedback from the Chief Minister on the candidacies of Assembly Deputy Speaker and Renuka MLA Vinay Kumar and young Kasauli MLA Vinod Sultanpuri.

Both belong to the Scheduled Caste community. Similarly, the names of Bhoranj MLA Suresh Kumar and Palampur MLA Ashish Butail have been discussed for the post of acting president. Suresh Kumar also belongs to the Scheduled Caste community. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu may also visit New Delhi in the coming days. He may again provide feedback to the high command on a potential president for the Congress organization.
