Himachal: Mega walkathon against Chitta in Dharamshala, hundreds participated

A mega walkathon against drug abuse was organized on Monday in Dharamshala, the district headquarters of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh. Hundreds of school students, college students, women’s groups, youth clubs, voluntary organizations, business organizations, and the general public participated in the walkathon.

Participants danced to the tunes of the Himachal Police Orchestra (Harmony of the Pines) and spread the message of staying away from drugs.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu was the chief guest. This event is an important part of the state government’s campaign aimed at protecting youth from the ill effects of drug abuse and making society drug-free.

In a post on X, CM Sukhu wrote, “A powerful public movement against chitta has taken shape in Himachal Pradesh. The war cry of thousands of youth rising from the land of Dharamshala is no longer just a protest—it is emerging as a collective pledge for a ‘Chitta-Free Himachal’. This voice is giving a clear signal of a new social awakening towards the complete eradication of drug abuse.”

The walkathon in Dharamshala marked the formal launch of the campaign against drug abuse in the district. Those present were also administered a pledge to stay away from drugs.
