Himachal: Preparations underway for major reshuffle,10k teachers to be transferred

The Himachal Education Department is preparing for a major reshuffle in the first week of April. The department will transfer approximately 10,000 teachers. With the implementation of the CBSE curriculum, the process for new appointments in the selected 145 schools will also be completed during this time.

Consequently, existing teachers will be transferred to other schools. The annual process for general transfers and retirements will also begin during this time. According to department officials, lists of teachers in various categories are being prepared as part of the regular transfer process, which occurs once a year.

Orders will begin to be issued in the first week of April. Preparations for the introduction of the CBSE curriculum in the selected 145 government schools across the state are in the final stages. New subject-specific teachers will be appointed to these schools.

Selected teachers will be assigned based on a screening test and merit. Teachers already posted in these schools will be reassigned to other schools in need, balancing the teacher availability across the state.

The department believes that the new system will improve educational quality. According to sources, teachers who have been working in the same school or in urban areas for a long time will be transferred.

Priority will be given to filling vacant positions in rural and remote areas. Many school systems will also change to accommodate teachers transferred from core areas. Subject-wise positions may be reorganized in some schools as needed. Retiring teacher positions will also be filled through new transfers, as part of the normal process beginning in April.
