Himachal: 15 percent of workers ineligible; 2,975 removed | Read to know full matter

The Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has registered ineligible individuals. The board has now conducted physical verification of 19,480 workers across the state. Of these, 2,975 were found to be ineligible.

Board Chairman Nardev Singh Kanwar clarified that this figure of over 15 percent is only preliminary. This number may increase further after the completion of the e-KYC process. In a statement issued to the media after a review meeting in Hamirpur, the chairman said that the main objective of removing ineligible individuals is to ensure that the benefits of the budget reach only genuine workers. The board will bear the full cost of higher and vocational education for the children of registered workers in government institutions.

In addition, all workers will be covered under the Him Care scheme, the entire cost of which will be borne by the board. All children with disabilities will also be brought under the ambit of this scheme. Now, labor welfare officers will sit in the office for three days a week to complete the e-KYC process and spend the remaining three days in the field conducting physical verification of the workers.

On the completion of three years of the government, the Chief Minister recently transferred an amount of Rs. 15 crore to the accounts of 4,000 beneficiaries. This includes the first installment of Rs. 3 lakh each for house construction for widows and single women.
