Himachal: Four police officers suspended for negligence in duty

The Senior Superintendent of Police has taken strict action against nine personnel from three police stations for negligence of duty. The action was taken after a surprise inspection conducted late Monday night, targeting police and Home Guard personnel at the Parwanoo, Dharampur, and Sadar Solan police stations, all located along the Kalka-Shimla National Highway.

One Head Constable, one Home Guard Head Constable, and two constables were suspended, while another Head Constable was transferred to the police lines. In addition, four Home Guard personnel were sent back to their battalion, and departmental action has been recommended against them.

According to reports, Solan SSP Gaurav Singh conducted a surprise inspection of the Parwanoo, Dharampur, and Sadar Solan police station areas at 2:00 AM. During the inspection, the personnel on patrol along the Kalka-Shimla National Highway were found to be negligent in their duties. Although the personnel were present on patrol, lapses were found in the late-night checkpoints. Vehicles were entering the area without being checked.

This action was taken based on complaints received that the patrolling personnel were being negligent. Following these complaints, the SSP conducted the late-night inspection. It is worth noting that about two weeks ago, an ASI was also suspended for negligence of duty. This clearly indicates that no compromise on discipline will be tolerated in the Solan police force.

Meanwhile, SSP Gaurav Singh stated that negligence of duty will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He emphasized that even a minor lapse in security at the Dharampur, Parwanoo, Kandaghat, and Solan police stations, all located along the National Highway, can have serious consequences. He explained that police personnel remain vigilant until 2:00 AM, but after that, there is a laxity in patrolling. He added that this is precisely when criminals often enter the state.
