Himachal Govt strict action on Cheating, paper leak; 3 years jail on being caught

Himachal Pradesh government has taken a big step to stop scams like cheating and paper leak in recruitment exams. Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi said that the cabinet has approved an important bill, which provides for punishment of up to three years to those involved in cheating, getting others to cheat, and paper leak.

The bill will be introduced in the assembly in the upcoming monsoon session. This step is being taken in view of the paper leak cases in institutions like the Staff Selection Commission, Hamirpur, in the state.

Bill to bring transperancy 

The aim of the bill is to bring transparency in selection exams and tighten the noose on those who play with the future of the youth. In the last few years, many cases of paper leak and organized cheating have come to light in various competitive exams in the state, which affected the future of lakhs of candidates.

The government’s decision is being considered important in the direction of transparency in the youth and education sector.

If you fail in the exam, you will get another chance

The Himachal Pradesh government has amended the Right to Free and Compulsory Child Education Act 2009 to conduct regular examinations of class V and VIII. The Right to Free and Compulsory Child Education Act 2025 has been notified in the gazette on Monday with the approval of the Governor.

The revised notification clarifies that if a child fails in the examination during the regular examination in class V and VIII, he will be given additional education and will get an opportunity to take the examination again. If he fails again, he will be stopped in the previous class.

The Right to Education Act 2025 provides for free and compulsory education for children aged 6 to 14 years in India. The notification stated that a 25 per cent reservation in private schools will be given in this Act. Private schools will also have to reserve 25 per cent seats for children from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections.

The aim of the Act is to ensure that every child gets free and compulsory education. Under the Act, children cannot be denied school admission nor can they be discriminated against.
