Himachal hailstorm alert in 4 districts, weather till Apr 19

In most parts of Himachal Pradesh, the weather has been bad since this morning. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy hail on Friday in four districts: Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla. In some places in these districts, thunderstorms are also expected along with hail. A yellow alert has been issued for Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, and Chamba districts. According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of the western disturbance will last until April 20.

On Saturday and Sunday, a yellow alert for hailstorms and thunderstorms has been issued in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts. On April 19, the western disturbance will become active again. On this day, heavy rain and storms are expected in higher and medium-high areas. On April 20, the western disturbance will weaken. On this day, the weather will remain bad only in higher areas. From April 21, the weather will clear up.

Chances of snowfall on high mountains

During this time, light snowfall can also be seen on the high mountains of Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur, and Chamba, while there will be light rain in the lower and medium altitude regions. This will cause a drop in temperature by three to four degrees.

66 Percent More Rainfall Than Normal in April

In the first 16 days of April, the state has received 66 percent more rainfall than normal. According to the Meteorological Department, the normal rainfall from April 1 to 16 is 34.5 mm, but this time 57.4 mm of rainfall has been recorded. The next 3 days also do not show any relief from rain.

Concerns of Apple Growers Have Increased

Meanwhile, the weather department’s forecast has increased the concerns of apple growers, as apple flowering is currently taking place in the state. It is necessary for the weather to remain clear during flowering. Rain, snowfall, and hail are harmful. In several areas of the state, the apple crop has already suffered severe damage due to hail.
