Heavy Hailstorm Alert in 4 Districts of Himachal Pradesh; Rain Likely for 6 Days

In most parts of Himachal Pradesh, light rain and changes in the weather were observed over the past 24 hours. Rain is likely to continue over the next six days as well. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy hailstorms today in the districts of Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla.

During this time, strong storms with speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour may also occur in some areas. The IMD has forecast heavy rain in some medium-altitude areas, while a yellow alert for hailstorms and storms has been issued for all districts except Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur.

Yesterday and the day before (April 30 and May 1), a yellow alert for hailstorms and storms was also issued in the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla. On May 2, the western disturbance will weaken slightly, but on this day as well there is a chance of light rain in high and medium-altitude areas. However, on May 3 and 4, good rainfall is forecast again in most parts of the state. This will lead to a drop in temperature over the next five to six days.

Sharp drop in temperature, Solan mercury falls to 12 degrees

Yesterday (April 28), after light rain, a sharp drop in temperature was recorded. The temperature in several cities has dropped by up to 12 degrees Celsius compared to the day before yesterday (Monday). As a result, the state’s average maximum temperature has fallen 4.8 degrees below normal.

Solan recorded the highest drop in maximum temperature, falling by 12.5 degrees, with the temperature dropping to 20.5 degrees Celsius. Sundernagar’s mercury dropped to 24.5 degrees after falling 12.0 degrees, Bhuntar fell by 10.4 degrees to 24.0 degrees, Mandi decreased by 10.4 degrees to 25.6 degrees, and Una’s maximum temperature fell by 9.4 degrees to reach 32.6 degrees. Last Monday, Una’s temperature had reached 42 degrees.

Pleasant weather in the mountains

A significant drop in temperature has also been recorded in other cities of the state. This has made the weather pleasant in the mountains. The residents of the state have breathed a sigh of relief from the intense heat after the change in weather. There has been rainfall of 2.2 mm in Solan, 0.4 mm in Shimla, 0.7 mm in Kalpa, 0.2 mm in Bhuntar, 1 mm in Manali, and 2 mm in Jubbarhatti.
