Heatwave in Himachal; Una hits 42.2°C, relief soon

In Himachal Pradesh, the heat in the last week of April is making people sweat. Temperatures across the state are higher than normal. In Una, the mercury has reached a record 42.2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert today for four districts of the state. These include the districts of Una, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi. A heatwave alert has been issued for their plain areas.

In these areas, hot winds are expected at different locations, and temperatures are likely to remain above normal. The department has advised people to avoid sunlight during the afternoon. According to the department’s forecast, the weather will remain clear and dry in the state on April 27 and 28.

Western disturbance will become active from April 28

After this, from April 28, due to the activation of a western disturbance, the weather will change. On April 28, a yellow alert has been issued for some places in the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla for strong winds blowing at a speed of 30-40 km per hour with thunder and lightning and light rain.

Possibility of snowfall in Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti

After this, on 29th and 30th April, light to moderate rain is likely at many places in the mid and high mountainous regions. Rain along with snowfall may occur in Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, and upper Shimla. This seasonal change is expected to cause a drop of 2-3 degrees Celsius in temperature and provide relief to people from extreme heat.
