Himachal rain alert: Schools closed, 3-day yellow warning issued

Shimla: Heavy rains are not stopping in Himachal. There is no hope of relief from rain in the state for three days. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain for the next 72 hours. There is a warning of rain in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra, Shimla and Sirmaur today. Schools and colleges will remain closed today in Manali and Banjar sub divisions of Kullu district.

This monsoon season (1 June to 11 September) has seen 43 per cent more rain than normal. The normal rainfall during this period is 674.2 mm, but this time it has received 961.3 mm of rain. Mandi district has received the highest rainfall of 1735.3 mm, Kangra has received 1712.7 mm and Sirmaur has received 1576.4 mm of rain.

Property worth Rs 4313 crore destroyed

Kullu has received 112 percent more rain than normal, and Shimla has received 106 percent more rain than normal during the monsoon season. This has caused great loss of life and property in the state. So far, private and government property worth Rs 4313 crore has been destroyed.

76 people died due to a landslide, flood and cloudburst

380 people have died in the entire monsoon season. According to the State Disaster Management, 76 people have lost their lives in 137 incidents of major landslides, 97 floods and 45 cloudbursts this season. While 40 people are missing.

1280 houses completely destroyed, 5643 houses partially damaged

Due to heavy rains in the state, 1280 houses have been completely destroyed, and 5643 houses have been partially damaged. 26 thousand 955 domestic animals have also lost their lives this season.
