Jal Shakti Department JE Suspended; Action Taken for Withholding BRCs Payments

A Junior Engineer employed with the Jal Shakti Department in Una district has been suspended for withholding payments due to Block Resource Coordinators (BRCs). Orders have also been issued to serve a show-cause notice to the said engineer and to immediately transfer him to the Circle Office. Furthermore, the Junior Engineer has been asked to submit a response within seven days.

According to the information received, the Block Resource Coordinators (BRCs) had not received their salaries for a considerable period, despite the fact that adequate funds for this purpose had already been released. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, approximately ₹1.10 crore had been released to cover payments for the period spanning from October 2025 to March 2026. Of this amount, ₹8.40 lakh was specifically allocated and transferred to the Una account for the payment of BRCs; however, despite this, the payments remained pending.

Deeming this negligence to be a serious matter, the Department has directed the Superintending Engineer, Una, to immediately issue a show-cause notice to the concerned Junior Engineer.

Additionally, he has been asked to provide a response within seven days explaining why disciplinary action—including suspension—should not be initiated against him. Furthermore, orders have been issued to immediately release all pending payments and to submit an action-taken report within ten days. Meanwhile, Superintending Engineer Er. Naresh Dhiman stated that appropriate action is being taken regarding this matter.

A show-cause notice will be served to the Junior Engineer, and he has been immediately transferred to the Circle Office.
