Himachal: Flood in Kullu, landslide causes petrol-diesel crisis; supply of milk, vegetables and newspapers stopped

After floods and landslides, the fuel crisis in the district has worsened the situation. Due to the stoppage of petrol and diesel supply, many petrol pump operators have stopped giving oil. Vehicles of private bus operators have come to a standstill due to a lack of diesel.

The administration has ordered petrol pumps to maintain a reserve stock for emergency services. Apart from this, a warning has been given of strict action against hoarding. There is no problem of domestic gas cylinders in the district at present, and delivery is being done on booking. But there has been no supply of milk, cheese, curd, bread, butter, vegetables and newspapers for the last four to five days. Most of the milk supplied to the city comes from the Lagvali area, but supply from there has stopped. People are getting only the milk coming from the Pahanala area, which is not sufficient.

Local residents Sanjay Sharma, Ajay Sharma, Balak Ram, Mohan Singh, Narottam Thakur and Prem Singh said that they have parked their cars due to the non-availability of petrol. President of Bus Operator Association Kullu, Rajat Jamwal said that buses from the Kullu to Bhuntar-Bajaura route have been stopped due to roads being closed and non-availability of diesel.

Gas supply regular

Civil Supplies Corporation Gas Agency In-charge Chandresh Kumari said that domestic and commercial gas cylinders are supplied twice a month in every area. This month the supply has been given. Cylinders have also been kept in reserve to deal with emergency situations.

Strict action will be taken against hoarding

All petrol pumps in the district have been ordered to maintain a minimum reserve stock for ambulances, fire department, vehicles engaged in transportation of essential goods and road restoration work. Hoarding and black marketing will not be tolerated. Those who disobey the orders will be prosecuted under Sections 188, 269, 270 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act 2005. This can result in a sentence of up to two years, a fine or both.
