Himachal: Mishap near Shikari Devi Temple in Mandi; 2 dead as car plunges into deep gorge

Two people lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident that occurred last night near the famous Mata Shikari Devi Temple a renowned Shakti Peeth located in the Mandi district at an altitude of 11,000 feet.

An Alto car plunged into a deep gorge at this location. The accident might have gone completely unnoticed had one of the injured victims not mustered the courage to make his way to the road and call for help. This is because the mishap took place in such a desolate area that it would otherwise have remained undiscovered.

The accident would have gone unnoticed had the Injured Not Sought Help
One of the injured victims bravely managed to reach the road, where he alerted and sought assistance from people who were camping in tents nearby. The Janjehli Police Station received information regarding the incident late at night, around 1:00 AM.

A police team arrived at the scene and, with the help of local residents, extricated the victims of the accident. So far, two people have tragically died in this accident, while two others remain injured.

Identification of the Deceased
There were a total of four occupants in the car. The accident was so severe that the vehicle was completely wrecked. The deceased have been identified as Bhupendra Raj and Het Ram, both residents of Thunag.

The injured have been identified as Yograj and Purnachand; one is reported to be a resident of Thunag, while the other hails from Pangna. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at the Medical College in Nerchowk. The administration has initiated the process of providing immediate relief to the affected families. This incident has sent a wave of grief across the entire Thunag and Janjehli region.

Police Investigate the Causes of the Accident
Mandi Superintendent of Police (SP), Vinod Kumar, has confirmed the accident. He stated that an investigation into the causes of the accident is currently underway. The bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their families following the completion of the post-mortem examination.
