Himachal: Night temp drop below 5 degrees Celsius in 12 locations; rain and snowfall expected

A cold wave continues to grip several parts of Himachal Pradesh. Night temperatures were recorded below 5 degrees Celsius at 12 locations in the state. Kukumseri recorded the lowest minimum temperature at -13.7 degrees Celsius. Temperatures were also below freezing in Kalpa and Tabo, while Manali recorded zero degrees Celsius. Sunshine in the capital, Shimla and other areas today provided some relief from the cold.

Shimla 6.0, Sundernagar 4.1, Bhuntar 2.6, Kalpa -2.4, Dharamshala 3.2, Una 7.0, Nahan 8.5, Palampur 6.5, Solan 4.1, Manali 0.3, Kangra 5.3, Mandi 5.5, Bilaspur 6.0, Jubbarhatti 6.8, Kukumseri -13.7, Bharmaur 1.0, Seobagh 2.5, Barthin 4.0, Kasauli 8.6, Paonta Sahib 9.0, Sarahan 3.5, Dehra Gopipur 9.0, Tabo -11.2 and Neri 10.1 degrees Celsius.

Weather to Worsen Again Due to Western Disturbance
According to the Meteorological Center Shimla, another new Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from the night of February 8th. Rain and snowfall are forecast in several parts of the state from February 9th to 11th. Widespread rainfall is expected across the state on February 10th. A yellow alert has also been issued for strong winds of 30-40 km per hour and thunderstorms in several areas. The weather is expected to clear up across the state from February 12th.

Temperature Changes Expected
Minimum temperatures in the state are likely to gradually increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next 48 hours. Following this, a drop of 2-3 degrees Celsius is expected in the next 2-3 days. Similarly, there will be no significant change in the maximum temperature during the next 48 hours. After that, the maximum temperature will decrease by 2-8 degrees Celsius over the following 2-3 days.
