Himachal: No Winter Vacation for Teachers Who Took Summer Break, notice issued

Teachers in Himachal Pradesh who were transferred during the current academic session and have already availed of summer vacation will not be granted winter vacation. The Directorate of School Education has clarified that such teachers will be required to render their services even during the winter holidays.

They will be deployed on deputation to winter schools located near their previous summer schools. The Directorate has issued instructions to all District Deputy Directors of Education in this regard. According to the orders, teachers who were transferred from summer schools to winter schools during the mid-session and have already taken summer holidays will not be eligible for the winter vacation scheduled from January 1, 2026, to mid-February.

The Education Directorate has instructed district-level authorities to identify such teachers and prepare a list. The Deputy Directors of Education have been directed to collect details from the concerned schools to ensure that teachers who have already taken summer vacation are not granted winter vacation and that their deputation is arranged as needed.

Winter vacation is scheduled in the state’s winter schools from January 1, 2026, to mid-February. However, teachers who have already availed of summer holidays will remain on duty during this period and will be required to serve in other schools.
