Himachal Panchayat Polls Tomorrow in 1,293 Panchayats; 6,500 Polling Parties Deployed Today

Shimla: The first phase of voting for 1,293 Panchayats in Himachal Pradesh will take place tomorrow (Wednesday). To facilitate this, more than 6,500 polling parties will be dispatched to the polling stations today. Approximately 450 polling parties were already dispatched yesterday to polling booths located in extremely remote and inaccessible areas.

For the remaining booths, all polling teams will be transported today carrying ballot boxes and election materials aboard buses operated by the Himachal Road Transport Corporation. All polling parties are required to have their respective polling stations ready for voting by this evening, ensuring that voting can commence at 7:00 AM tomorrow. Polling will continue until 3:00 PM.

Following this, the votes for the Pradhan (Head), Up-Pradhan (Deputy Head), and Ward Members will be counted at the Panchayat Bhawan. The votes for the Block Development Council (BDC) and the District Council will be counted on May 31; consequently, the ballot boxes for these elections will be stored in strong rooms.

Five Distinct Ballot Paper Colors Designated

For the Panchayat elections, the Election Commission has designated specific colors for the ballot papers. A white ballot paper has been designated for Ward Members; yellow for the Up-Pradhan; light green for the Pradhan; pink for Panchayat Samiti Members; and blue for District Council Members.
