Himachal Plains Colder Than Shimla as Temperatures Rise 4.7°C Above Normal

Shimla: Nights in the plains of Himachal Pradesh have become colder than in Shimla. Cold winds from the high mountains have kept temperatures around normal in the lower areas, while Shimla’s mercury has reached 8 degrees Celsius, a rise of 3.7 degrees above normal.

Meanwhile, Sundernagar in Mandi recorded a minimum temperature of 6.2 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 5.0, Dharamshala 7.0, Una 7.8, Solan 4.2, Kangra 7.8, Mandi 7.2, and Barthi 5.5 degrees Celsius. Due to the sunshine over the past five days, the maximum temperature has also increased.

The state’s average maximum temperature has risen 4.7 degrees above normal. Kalpa’s maximum temperature has risen by a maximum of 7.5 degrees above normal, reaching 14.1 degrees Celsius.

Kangra’s maximum temperature rose 6.9 degrees to 25 degrees Celsius, Manali’s rose 6 degrees to 17.9 degrees Celsius, and Shimla’s rose 4.8 degrees to 18.1 degrees Celsius. Bhuntar also recorded a temperature 6.7 degrees above normal, reaching 24.7 degrees Celsius.

Rainfall during the winter season was 24% less than normal.

The state has received less rain and snowfall than normal this winter season. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), from January 1st to February 15th, the state received 24 percent less rain than normal. The average rainfall during this period is 134.9 mm, but this time only 101.9 mm of rain fell.

Light snowfall in the higher mountains on 17-18

There is no significant rain or snowfall expected for the next week. Although a Western Disturbance is expected to become active tomorrow, its impact will be limited primarily to the higher altitudes of Chamba, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti. Light rain and snowfall are expected in these areas on February 17th and 18th.

The weather will be clear in the entire state from February 19.
