Himachal: 800 more police constables to be recruited in two months, says CM Sukhu

There’s good news for the youth of Himachal Pradesh. The government will recruit 800 more police constables in two months. This recruitment will be done through the State Selection Commission. Our government has put an end to malpractices like paper leaks, which started during the BJP’s tenure. Now, young people are getting government jobs based on their merit.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said this at the employment fair held at the Police Training College, Daroh, on Wednesday. He handed over appointment letters to 1253 newly appointed constables.

He said that instructions have been given to the Director General of Police to procure high-quality fabric from reputable companies. The government is also seriously considering increasing the uniform allowance for police constables. He said that from this year onwards, all ex-servicemen will be made Honorary Head Constables after 10 years of service and Honorary Assistant Sub-Inspectors after 15 years of service.

He said that the decision was taken to conduct the B-1 examination for promotion from Constable to Head Constable. There is an interim stay on this matter in the High Court, but the government will present its case strongly. The Chief Minister also administered an oath against drug abuse on this occasion.

During this time, the police department also demonstrated various rescue techniques. The Chief Minister said that the state government has launched a fight against the drug mafia. The government has dismissed 12 police personnel involved in drug trafficking and will also dismiss employees from other departments involved in similar activities. Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari welcomed the Chief Minister and gave a detailed account of the department’s activities.

System for drug sampling and quality testing to be strengthened
In Shimla, CM Sukhu said that the system for sampling and quality testing of medicines supplied to government health institutions will be further strengthened. For this, a dedicated cell will be established in every medical college. The state government will provide adequate staff, training, and necessary equipment. In the first phase, these cells will be established at IGMC and Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda.
