Himachal: 4852 positions to be filled in Jal-Shakti Department

The Jal Shakti Department will fill 4,852 positions. This decision was made during a four-hour marathon meeting with officials at the Secretariat on Friday, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri. The matter will be brought up in the upcoming Cabinet meeting.

The meeting also approved the filling of 1,726 posts of pump operators, para-pumpers, and para-fitters. It has also been decided to fill 4,136 outsourced positions at the departmental level. Currently, the government is paying ₹98 crore to the contractor. Filling these positions at the departmental level will cost ₹25 crore.

The Jal Shakti Department also has 111 work inspectors, 100 JEs, 505 on compassionate grounds, and hydrologists. 76 positions have been filled on compassionate grounds. The documents of dependents for 505 positions have been found to be correct. An agenda has been prepared for the Cabinet to fill these positions. Furthermore, after eight years, Jal Rakshaks will be promoted to pump attendants.

Earlier, they were being made pump attendants after 12 years. The government has made 1,346 out of 3,486 water guards as pump attendants. The remaining water guards will also be made pump attendants. He said that pump and para fitters will get a respectable salary from the government.

Currently, they get 5 to 6 thousand rupees every month. A policy will also be made for multi-task workers in the Jal Shakti department. The government wants to give them a respectable salary too. An agenda has been prepared to take this matter to the cabinet.
