Himachal Pradesh: Ambulance workers on 48-hour strike from December 25, Read why

Employees associated with the 108 and 102 ambulance services in Himachal Pradesh have decided to go on a 48-hour strike from 8:00 PM on December 25th to 8:00 PM on December 27th. The employees allege that their pending demands are being ignored, while the administration is working in the company’s interest.

Sunil Kumar, President of the 108 and 102 Employees Union, along with Secretary Balak Ram and other members including Sanjeev Kumar, Biri Singh, Rampal, Sandeep Kumar, Ravinder Kumar, Surendra Kumar, Bhuvnesh Kumar, and Manoj Kumar, jointly stated that instead of seriously considering the employees’ problems, the administration is trying to suppress them by threatening to impose the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) of 1972.

The union leaders said that the government and the administration awarded the ambulance service tender to the company. Despite this, when the employees approach the administration with complaints about exploitation by the company, they are told that they are not government employees. The employees allege that the same administration is now threatening to impose ESMA on them to protect the company.

The employees stated that they have repeatedly presented their demands peacefully, appealed to the administration, and informed them about the company’s exploitation, but their concerns have been ignored every time. They are now forced to resort to a strike.

The union clarified that the disruption in ambulance services is not the fault of the employees, but rather the company’s policies and the administration’s indifference. The employees have appealed to the public for their support.
