Himachal Cabinet Meeting Today: Age Limit Relaxation, Sports Hostel Expansion, and Policy Amendments on Agenda

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will chair an important cabinet meeting at the Secretariat today. Several key proposals and amendments are expected to be discussed, with critical decisions anticipated on policy and administrative matters ahead of the Assembly budget session.

Age Limit Relaxation for Compassionate Employment

Sources indicate that the cabinet may decide to relax the age limit for compassionate employment in the Home Department, potentially allowing more eligible candidates to benefit from the scheme.

Amendments to Lease Rules and Social Security Pension Scheme

The Revenue Department has submitted a proposal to amend the Lease Rules 2013, which may be deliberated during the meeting. Additionally, changes to the rules of the Social Security Pension Scheme are expected to be discussed to improve implementation and benefits.

Budget Session Preparations

The cabinet may approve an amendment bill for the upcoming budget session and review the supplementary budget for 2025-26. Vacant positions in various departments may also be sanctioned, along with the creation of new posts as per administrative requirements.

Expansion of Sports Hostels

One of the key proposals includes increasing the capacity of the Hamirpur Sports Hostel from 100 to 200 students. The cabinet had previously approved opening three new sports hostels and expanding capacities of existing ones in Bilaspur, Shimla, and Sirmaur districts.

22 Agenda Items and Supplementary Proposals

Approximately 22 agenda items have been prepared for the meeting, with the possibility of supplementary items being introduced. The meeting is expected to set the tone for several major decisions affecting policy, employment, and social welfare in Himachal Pradesh.
