Himachal Monsoon Fury: Cloudburst in Kullu wrecks homes and roads, Toll reaches 261

Shimla, August 17: ​​​​​​The devastation caused by monsoon rains in Himachal Pradesh is not stopping. Today at around 4 am, a cloud burst in Shalanala of Kullu. This caused heavy damage in many areas of Kullu and Mandi. After the flood, all the debris came on Takoli Sabji and Takoli Fourlane.

More than 10 houses have been damaged in different areas of Kullu and Mandi. Many houses are filled with debris. The wall of the office and colony of Afcon company broke due to the flood in Shalanal Khad. Here the employees saved their lives by running away, the houses of local people also suffered a lot of damage.

More than 10 vehicles have also been damaged in Takoli, Panarsa and Nagwai. The Chandigarh-Manali four-lane has been closed at many places in Mandi and Kullu. Damage due to flash flood has also been reported in Bagi Parashar of Mandi district.

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for rain in 5 districts Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur today. Heavy rain may occur at one or two places in these districts.

So far 261 people have lost their lives in this monsoon season in the state. Out of these 35 people have lost their lives due to floods, cloudbursts and landslides, while 36 people are missing. So far government and private property has suffered a loss of Rs 2144 crore.
