Rain wrecks destruction in many places; 617 roads closed due to landslides

Due to heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh since last night, life has been completely disrupted. Landslides and floods have caused devastation in many areas. The bridge connecting Dhela Panchayat and Dawni Industrial Area in Manakpur of Solan district’s industrial area Manpura collapsed during heavy rains in the morning. Due to the closure of this route, entrepreneurs and workers from Manpura to Dawni and the Vardhman area now have to go via Baddi and Chanal Majra. Due to landslides at various places, 617 roads including four national highways, are closed in the state. 1491 electricity transformers and 265 water supply schemes are also affected.

Schools closed in these sub-divisions

Due to heavy rains, it has been decided to keep educational institutions closed today in many subdivisions of the state. Holiday has been declared in many private schools of Shimla city. Along with this, educational institutions have been kept closed today in Theog, Chaupal, Kumarsain division. Holiday has been declared today in educational institutions of Ani and Nirmand sub-divisions. There is a possibility of landslides and road closure due to continuous rain in these areas, due to which this decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of students and staff. The administration has appealed to the people to avoid unnecessary travel in view of the weather conditions and contact the local authorities in case of any emergency.

Five vehicles buried under debris in Urtu of Nirmand, seven shops also damaged

There is news of rising water level of drain and five vehicles being buried due to landslide in Urtu of Nirmand subdivision due to heavy rains. Seven shops have also been damaged. The road has also come under the grip of rain and landslide and traffic has come to a halt. At the same time, due to continuous heavy rains in Kinnaur, many places on the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra route have been damaged. The rescue team from the administration took the people stranded on the way to Kinnaur Kailash to safe places late at night. At the same time, NH 5 was blocked due to landslide in Nigulsari.
