Flash floods, heavy rain cause widespread damage in Himachal Pradesh, Yellow alert issued

Shimla, August 24: Flash flood occurred in Barshauna Nala of Barshauna Panchayat of Bhuntar Tehsil of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. Due to which debris reached the fields and crops suffered heavy damage. At the same time, it is raining heavily in Kangra.

The Meteorological Center has warned of continuous rain in the state for the next 3 days. Today, a yellow alert has been issued for Mandi and Shimla. There is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in these districts. There is also a possibility of rain at many other places in the state.

According to the department, Bilaspur, Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangar, Solan, Sirmour and Una may also receive light to moderate rainfall in the next few hours. Monsoon rain is causing heavy damage in the state.

So far, government and private property worth Rs 2326 crore has been destroyed. In this monsoon season, 658 houses have been completely damaged and 2318 houses have been partially damaged. 316 roads are still closed. Out of these, 262 roads are closed in Mandi and Kullu districts only.

So far there has been 14% more rain

According to the Meteorological Department, between June 1 and August 23, the state has recorded 14% more rain than normal. Shimla received the highest rainfall of 73%. Kullu received 53% more rain, Mandi 49%, Una 47%, Bilaspur 36%, Solan 33% and Hamirpur 29% more rain. Sirmaur recorded 23%, Kinnaur 7% and Kangra 4% more rain.

Two districts received less than normal rainfall

On the other hand, two districts have received less rainfall than normal. Chamba recorded 6% less rainfall. Lahaul-Spiti received the least rainfall, which is 66% less than normal. According to the Meteorological Department, rain is likely to continue at different places in the state for the next 3-4 days.
