Double Blow of Fog and Cold Wave in Himachal Plains, Temperatures Plunge Below Zero

Shimla: The plains of Himachal Pradesh are facing a double attack of fog and cold wave. Fog warnings have been issued for eight districts and a cold wave warning for six districts. Cold wave warnings have been issued for Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra, Mandi, and Chamba districts, while fog warnings have been issued for these six districts, as well as Solan and Sirmaur.

Temperatures Dip Below Zero in Several Areas

This will further increase the cold. The state is experiencing severe cold due to fog and cold wave. Temperatures have dropped below minus in 12 cities of the state, while in 14 places it has fallen below 5 degrees Celsius. The mercury has dropped to -10.6 degrees in Kukumsari of Lahaul Spiti, 8.4 degrees in Tabo, -3.8 degrees in Kalpa, -1.4 degrees in Manali and -2.2 degrees in Solan.

Sharp Drop in Temperatures in Palampur, Hamirpur and Mandi

Palampur’s temperature dropped the most, dropping to minus 0.5 degrees Celsius, a maximum of 5.6 degrees Celsius. Hamirpur’s temperature dropped 4.1 degrees below normal, dropping to 0.7 degrees Celsius, while Mandi’s mercury dropped 3.4 degrees Celsius, dropping to 0.9 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in other cities have also dropped significantly. This is making mornings, evenings, and nights extremely cold in the mountains.

Visibility Likely to Drop Below 100 Metres

The Meteorological Department has issued a fog warning for the plains, advising drivers to exercise caution in view of the fog forecast until 10 a.m. in all districts except Shimla, Kinnaur, Kullu, and Lahaul-Spiti. Visibility could drop below 100 meters due to the fog.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of rain or snowfall in the state for the next week . However, fog and cold wave conditions will continue.
