Shimla: Heavy rains lashed many parts of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday night. Bilaspur, Sirmaur, Solan, and Kangra districts were particularly affected. Naina Devi in ​​Bilaspur received the highest rainfall of 140 mm, followed by Bilaspur with 122 mm. Shimla has also experienced poor weather since morning. However, according to the Shimla Meteorological Centre, the monsoon will weaken starting today.

There is no rain alert until September 23rd. During this time, light drizzle may occur only at one or two places. The weather will now clear up in most parts of the state. This monsoon season (June 1st to September 17th) has seen 46 percent more rainfall than normal, and in September, it has seen 136 percent more rainfall than normal. Shimla has seen 108 percent more rainfall than normal, and Kullu has seen 107 percent more rainfall than normal during the entire monsoon season.

Similarly, Kullu received 277% more rainfall than normal in September. Bilaspur received 247% more rainfall, Hamirpur 242%, Mandi 212%, Shimla 236%, and Solan district received 231% more rainfall than normal. This heavy rainfall has caused devastation, causing significant loss of life and property.

517 roads, including two national highways, were closed.

Property worth Rs 4,595 crore has been destroyed this season. 419 people have lost their lives during the monsoon season. 80 people have died due to floods, cloudbursts, and landslides. 517 roads, including two national highways, remain closed in the state.
