Himachal Pradesh: Thousand meritorious students will get laptops and tablets worth 16 thousand each

The Himachal Pradesh state government will give laptops and tablets to ten thousand meritorious students studying in schools and colleges of Himachal Pradesh. The meritorious students will be given coupons worth Rs 16,000 each. They will also be allowed to buy gadgets at a higher price. Students will have to apply to make the purchase through the portal.

The selected companies themselves will drop the goods at home through a courier. The State Electronics Corporation has completed the process in this regard. On the other hand, the Education Department has sought time from Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu for the launch of the scheme.

Electronic Gadget of Choice

The government has decided to give any one electronic gadget of their choice to the meritorious students of class 10th and 12th and colleges included in the merit list of the academic session 2022-23. The configuration of the gadgets has been decided through the State Electronics Corporation. The corporation has selected many companies under this.

A portal has also been prepared to apply to maintain transparency in the scheme. After uploading their information on this portal, the meritorious students will be able to choose any one electronic gadget of their choice. This scheme was started in the year 2007 during the time of the then Dhumal government with the distribution of laptops.

Sukhu continued scheme 

In 2012, the Virbhadra government continued this scheme and increased the scope of the number of students in this scheme. In 2017, the Jairam government was caught in a dilemma between closing the scheme and continuing it. Later, the government continued the scheme and provided laptops. Later, tablets were provided under the scheme. Now the Sukhu government has made a big change in the scheme. The government will not make any purchases for the meritorious students on its own. Under the new system, a basket of electronic gadgets has been prepared. The government will give a coupon to the meritorious students while honoring them. Through this coupon, the meritorious students will be able to get a laptop or tablet of the company of their choice.
